Bachelor of Technology (Solar and Alternate Energy)
Why choose this field?
With US$1 trillion being invested, it is estimated that, the global renewable energy industry will create over 3 million job opportunities in the near future. By 2020, renewable energy will supply 10% of the world's electricity consumption. The Middle East is expected to become the number 1 worldwide solar energy producer by 2030, according to the “solar energy plans” approved by several countries across the region and extensively reported by the main international economic analysts such as Bloomberg, MESIA. The UAE plans to produce 44% of its energy requirements from clean energy by 2050, with Dubai increasing that target to 75% in the approved “Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050”.
This emerging sector is able to offer successful “green” careers to a new generation of professionals, both in private and public sectors. Jobs in the renewable energy sector can be found in production and manufacturing plants for equipment, research labs and facilities, distribution channels, and the operation of equipment for the creation of cleaner combustion fuels. There are also various opportunities in traditional marketing and corporate roles within organisations that have a specific focus on renewable energy.
